Green Meetings
Go local...Reduce the carbon footprint of your meetings
Many of us have become familiar with the growing trend to be local. For some that means shopping locally and supporting locally sourced food. For others it means driving less. For event technology that means shipping less and using locally sourced people and gear, as well as buying from an environmentally responsible company.
Use local equipment and resources
A significant portion of a meeting’s environmental footprint comes from travel and shipping costs. The best way to avoid this negative carbon impact is to use local equipment and local resources. PSAV provides event technology gear and people in virtually every key meeting city.
Environmentally responsible equipment
At PSAV, we pride ourselves on being an environmentally responsible company. It starts with wanting to be a good corporate citizen. That means buying equipment which avoids the use of hazardous substances in the manufacturing process, having safe disposal of consumable products, and encouraging active recycling whenever possible.
Printed on recycled paper
PSAV purchases environmentally responsible equipment. PSAV’s purchasing policies include sourcing the most environmentally friendly equipment up front. That means purchasing Energy Star compliant equipment whenever possible. However, not all AV equipment can be certified by Energy Star, so PSAV also seeks RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant equipment that, from the initial design of the product, minimizes or avoids the use of hazardous materials in the manufacturing process.
Commitment to recycling
In addition to purchasing environmentally responsible equipment, PSAV has a program, managed in conjunction with Waste Management Corporation, to ensure our equipment never gets into the waste stream. As an item is identified for retirement, it is evaluated for reuse, remarketing or recycling. PSAV receives a certificate of recycling to confirm the process is complete. Small consumables, such as rechargeable batteries, bulbs and filaments, are disposed of in a special bucket to ensure they will not enter the waste stream.
At PSAV, we’re going green
Every day we live the PSAV story. We’re all continuing to look for opportunities to make that story a little more green. From recycling programs in our key worldwide offices to purchasing environmentally friendly consumables, PSAV employees have shown that small things matter and can make a positive environmental impact.
